SISCAQU028 - Assist participants with disability during aquatic activities
This unit focuses on the knowledge and skills required to identify the needs of participants with disability, assist them to safely enter and exit the water and provide support during aquatic activities suited to participant needs and preferences.
The GSPO states for those teaching persons with a disability specialist groups, in addition to the requirements for all Swimming and Water Safety Teachers, individuals should also hold this unit of competency.

Overview
Course overview: Students will start the course with accessing the learning resources via our eLearning portal. You will then practice delivering swimming lessons to individuals with disabilities in the workplace in accordance with the course content, prior to progressing to the knowledge-based and practical assessment tasks. Our trainers are available for support and assistance as you progress through this unit.
Course duration and delivery: Online training and assessment (approximately 10 hours).

Pre-requisites:
- Must hold these two pre-requisite units SISCAQU024 Teach water familiarisation, buoyancy and mobility skills and SISCAQU025 Teach water safety and survival skills (if you don't hold these units, contact us and we can provide information about the recognition of prior learning process)
- Physical requirements include: -The fitness and strength to support infants and toddlers in the water -Ability to extract infants and toddlers unassisted from the water
- Minimum age 17
- Access to a computer and the internet to access the eLearning portal.
Certification: On successfully completing all assessment tasks, a Statement of Attainment for SISCAQU028 - Assist participants with disability during aquatic activities will be issued.
Please allow up to 10 working days to receive your certificate upon successful completion of the course.
