    Pool Operations / Aquatic Technical Operator

    Target Group: Aquatic technical operators who work in public aquatic facilities

    Undertaking the Aquatic Technical Operators Course enables industry participants to gain the skills and expertise needed to monitor and maintain aquatic facility equipment and pool water quality, and coordinate the maintenance of aquatic facility plant and equipment. This is the nationally recognised skill set is for those wishing to work as an Aquatic Technical Operator.

    For the purposes of the Code of Practice for the Design, Construction, Operation, Management and Maintenance of Aquatic Facilities this training meets the requirements for Group 1, 2, 3 and 4 aquatic facilitites.

    Self Reflection Questions

    Students will start the course with online learning via our eLearning portal. There is pre-reading, online learning modules and knowledge-based assessments prior to joining a classroom session. This will ensure students have the required knowledge and understanding before progressing to the practical application and assessment in the classroom. There is also an on-the-job workplace learning and assessment requirement.

    Course duration and delivery:
    Online training and assessment (approximately 22 hours) plus 4 days face-to-face training and assessment.

    Pre-requisites:
    - The fitness and strength to complete manual handling tasks
    - English proficiency to work through course resources and instruction
    - Minimum age 18 (recommended)
    - Access to a computer and the internet to access the eLearning portal prior to participating in the face-to-face training.

    Certification: Upon the successful completion of the knowledge and face-to-face components and the workplace assessments, the learner will receive a Statement of Attainment with:

    • SISCAQU015 Test pool water quality
    • SISCAQU016 Maintain pool water quality
    • SISCAQU017 Monitor and maintain aquatic facility plant and equipment
    • SISXFAC009 Coordinate facility maintenance
    • BSBWHS308 Participate in WHS hazard identification, risk assessment and risk control processes

    Please allow up to 10 working days to receive your certificate upon successful completion of the course.

    Industry Requirement: To achieve LIWA accreditation you must also successfully complete or already hold the Pool Lifeguard Skill Set.
