Lifeguard Advanced Supervision Skills

The Lifeguard Advanced Supervision Skills eLearning module focuses on improving lifeguard supervision skills. Lifeguards often prioritise rescue and emergency response training over effective supervision, but this module addresses this gap. It combines the latest research with practical insights from experienced lifeguards and trainers.

The module prompts lifeguards to reflect on their knowledge, analyse their experiences, and understand the challenges they face during pool supervision. It offers strategies and solutions, both familiar and new, to enhance their skills. The goal is to boost lifeguards’ confidence, reduce errors, and enhance patron safety.

The module is highly visual, featuring animated videos and exercises. It comprises two topics, covering initial training review and a deep dive into how vision, cognition, attention, memory, and physiology affect supervision. It takes about 40 minutes to complete, and participants must pass knowledge checks to receive a certificate.

Completing this module can contribute to meeting annual in-service training requirements for lifeguards, as outlined in the Guidelines for Safe Pool Operations (GSPO) – Aquatic Supervision. All lifeguards and those responsible for their management are encouraged to take this course.
