SISCAQU018 Operate self-contained breathing apparatus in aquatic facility emergencies

Course duration and delivery:

Completion of a series of online training modules and knowledge assessment, taking approximately 3 hours to complete and 1 day (7 hours) in-class practical training and assessment.

Course content:

• Chlorine gas safety
• Chlorine gas hazards and safe handling
• Risk management in chlorine gas environments
• SCBA components, functions and pre-use safety checks
• Safe use and maintenance of SCBA
• Chlorine gas emergency preparedness and response

Pre-requisites:

• The fitness and strength to complete manual handling tasks
• English proficiency to work through course resources and instruction
• Minimum age 18
• Access to a computer and the internet to access the eLearning portal prior to participating in the face-to-face training.

Certification:

Upon the successful completion of the knowledge and face-to-face components and the workplace assessments, the learner will receive a Statement of Attainment with:

Students who, after completing the enrolment process - including the Learner Onboarding and Language, Literacy, Numeracy, and Digital (LLND) diagnostic assessment - determine that the course is not suitable for their needs, and who have not commenced the eLearning or attended any part of the course, are entitled to receive a full refund of any fees paid. This ensures that students have the opportunity to make an informed decision about their training without financial penalty, provided they notify Royal Life Saving WA before accessing the course materials or starting the training.

Industry Requirement: LIWA requires individuals operating in a chlorine gas facility to complete this training on an annual basis.
