    The Swimming and Water Safety Teacher licence is valid for one year from the date of issue. Swimming and Water Safety Teachers are required to maintain their industry licence through a renewal application process.

    Please note our online payment for renewal requires a 'session' to be selected before you can proceed to the cart.

    To be able to submit your renewal form, please:

    • Log in to your aXcelerate account to submit your completed documentation as detailed below.

    Overview

    The requalification of your Swim Teacher licence is an annual requirement. These components are from the Guidelines for Safe Pool Operations.

    Updating your Industry Licence affirms your commitment to maintain currency in safety, ongoing professional development, industry standards of practice and behavioural guidelines.

    We encourage you to submit all requirements before the expiry date so that you maintain continuity of accreditation. On approval of your accreditation application, you will receive a copy of your Industry Licence and Royal Life Saving WA membership.

    Licence Renewal Requirements:

    1. Current CPR Qualification

    A copy of your current HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation certificate.

    2. Valid Working With Children Check

    Your WWC Card is valid for three years and it is recommended you renew it at least one month prior to expiration. Apply for, or renew, your WWCC here.

    3. Verification of aquatic rescue ability

    The following awards will be accepted for verification of your aquatic rescue ability:

    4. Professional Development

    Evidence of on-going professional development in both water safety and teaching techniques. Sessions completed through external organisations will be validated case by case. Certificate of completion and summary of the session/s will be requested.

    Minimum PD Requirements:

    Option 1: Four Online PD Sessions
    Option 2: Three Online PD Sessions AND One Half Day (4 hour) In-Person PD
    Option 3: Two Online PD Sessions AND One Full Day (8 hour) In-Person PD
    Option 4: Two Full Day In-Person PD Sessions (8 hours each)
    Option 5: Four Half Day In-Person PD Sessions (4 hours each)

    PD Certificate:
    Download a copy of our Swim Teacher Professional Development Certificate to assist you with your records of completed training, in-service and professional development sessions. This can then be uploaded at the time of licence renewal.
